Patrick Davies is a consultant in Paediatric Intensive Care in Nottingham, UK, and an Honorary Assistant Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Nottingham. He has been East Midlands Paediatric Critical Care Network Lead since Autumn 2021, after having been Clinical Lead for Nottingham for 7 years.

He is Treasurer and on the council of the UK Paediatric Intensive Care Society. He has clinical interests in physiology (who doesn’t?), and advanced monitoring including haemodynamics and electrical impedance tomography. He is a senior examiner for the RCPCH Theory and Science Examination.

He has a diverse and eclectic research history, ranging from the physiology of death to the alcohol consumption of James Bond. He led the data collection for UK PIC cases of PIMS-TS and was lead author for three publications on this for this first, national cohort. He publishes the PicPod podcast at www.picpod.net, which has so far published 57 episodes and has had over 30,000 downloads. When not working life is juggled around a large family and as much sport (any: try me!) as can be squeezed in.
